My last few clients have really been into tonal looks.
What is a tonal look, you ask?
Tonal is when you take a garment of a specific color (i.e. brown pants) and pair the rest of the look with colors in that family (i.e. dark tan jacket, light beige t-shirt). You can do this with any color, but it looks best with earthy colors or neutral tones.
Here are some great examples of tonal looks:

Tonal is a minimalist style and has a very “quiet luxury” feel that is easy to put together.
The look give off luxury vibes, but that doesn’t mean you need to spend an arm and a leg on the clothes.
When you pair these colors and clothes this way, they tend to look like something from a luxury brand.
For example, Brunello Cucinelli is a luxury brand that rocks tonal looks.
Usually tonal looks consist of neutral colors, but I personally like them in earthy tones like green, burgundy, rust etc.
Here are some of my favorite colors for tonal looks:

Beige, browns, and tans always look great. Greens like olive or army are really nice as well. I really like purple, burgundy, and terracotta for more pop.
Pro Tip: You can pair all of these with “ecru” (off-white) pants for an extra luxurious feel.
The tones you choose will depend on your skin/hair/eyes, for example, if you have a warmer complexion, you will go for warmer neutrals (yellow undertones) and if you have a cooler complexion you will go for cooler neutrals (gray undertones etc). We cover this in detail in TSGP.
With spring around the corner, going for lighter earthy tonal colors is key (vs black or dark grey). This is a great look for spring and summer because of the light feel of the clothing. When the sun is out, you want to wear light colors.
Feel free to Google or Pinterest some looks for inspiration if you’re drawn to this look.
